New! Chapter 'Programs in a Box'
At the summer Chapter Leadership Workshop, chapter leaders heard information about an exciting educational resource titled ONS Chapter 'Programs in a Box.' For those not familiar, the 'Programs in a Box' are a series of educational programs that have been developed by ONS using oncology nursing experts that can be used by chapters to present to their members free of charge. Each program includes all the PowerPoint slides, speaker notes, and handouts necessary for the presentation. Chapter leaders can select the program that they would like to use, download it for free, and secure a speaker of their choosing to make the presentation. Chapters can apply for free CNE hours through the ONS Approver Unit using step by step instructions included with the materials.
To learn more about Programs in a Box, log on to your chapter's Virtual Community and click on the Programs in a Box section on the top of the site. If you have any questions regarding the 'Programs in a Box' please contact Heather Mackey at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Other Chapter Updates, News & Notes
IMPORTANT DEADLINE: The Chapter Annual Report and the year-end Chapter Treasurers report are due no later than JANUARY 31, 2014! Click on the Resources tab on the left to access both reports.
CHAPTER MEMBERSHIP MODEL: The new universal chapter membership model to become effective. ONS staff and its vendors are completing the final technical changes required for the transition. Chapter Transition Kits have been sent to chapter Presidents via mail, and should arrive throughout the fourth week of July. The Transition Kit will include information on how you will be able to communicate with your chapter members (including some suggested language), how you will be able to access your chapter rosters in the future, and other helpful suggestions.
Also, please note that a major part of this transition involves significant changes to your ONS Chapter Virtual Communities. These changes include a new, consistent “look and feel” to the sites, as well as some new functionalities. ONS, in working with our VC vendor, has re-designed the Chapter VC template so that it will closely match the new look of the ONS national web site. Chapters will still enjoy many of the same functions and features of the VC sites, but will notice a nice, new design to the VCs. The sites will also be easier for your VC Administrator to manage in the future.
